Hi, Happy Bank Holiday to you, the weather is sunny and we are off to a Steam Fair today.....woo hoo, just love looking for odd bits of rusty bits at these events and to have a nosey in the Craft Tent.........
On Wednesday I went to LB Crafts for a workshop with the lovely Lin to make a Printers Tray, wow what an experience that was. My first attempts with Beeswax and Utee using a Melt Pot.............to tell you the truth I was rubbish at it........My Beeswax layering was enough to make a Candle with. Far too much, but Lin saved me from ruining it completely. Utee and I got on not too badly and was very impressed with the Black Utee, so dramatic, loved that. I learn't such a lot, mainly by mistakes and now feel a bit more confident in using my Melt Pot (never been out of its box in a year). There was a bit of touching up here and there to do once I got it home..........before I dare show you it...........lol
Have a great weekend and hope you are having sunny weather. Take care, hugs Annette x

ALTERED PAPERBACK - The Three Muses

Hi, am so getting blog withdrawals, is it an addiction do you think?
Hope you all had a great Christmas and lots of lovely presents. I had very few crafting type presents but had everything I wanted so was pleased as punch. Lots of pads of Watercolour Paper..... and two books: Taking Flight (inspiration techniques) and Artists Journals & Sketchbooks, both fabulous books. Yesterday went to LB Crafts to their 50% off sale, yep 50% how brill is that and got some great advice from the talented Lin and of course the lovely Karen was there, they are such a great team.
My Altered Book is made from a Mills & Boon paperback. Covered the front and back covers from squares cut out from book and stamped over them. All stamps are by BLine. Other products used are: Texture Paste, Eco Friendly Acrylic Paint, Modge Podge, Multi Matte Medium, The Ultimate Glue, Copper embossing powder and Inca Gold. The centre picture is from Crafty Individuals. After gluing the book together I painted all the edges of the paper, modge podged them and then rubbed in Inca Gold.
Have never altered a Paperback before and can tell you its much easier than the childrens hardback ones. I hope you like it as I am quite proud of my first attempt, but not sure whether to turn it into a hanging as its quite lightweight..........mmm will have to think about that. Just in case you wondered why I didn't put any flowers on it.........simples........they get too dusty.... lol
Am putting the Altered Book into The Three Muses - Books, such a brilliant blog with such wonderful creative people.
Will be back later to blog hop and see all that I've missed. Have a terrific day and take care, Hugs Annette x
