COMPENDIUM OF CURIOSITIES No 8

Hi,

Another exciting challenge from the fab talented Linda, of Studio L3, this time Page 39 from Tim Holtz Compendium of Curiosities - Grunge.

I only had one bit of grungeboard (given to me) so it was do or die so to speak, plus had never used it before.......obviously not my best move..........so I have found out the hard way. Can tell you this......avoid putting modge podge on it, it ruins the texture........yep thats what I did......sob sob.

Diecuts from Tim Holtz and Sizzix, Stamp bought second hand so don't know the name of it, except its Zetti and the other is from Anitas. Distress Inks and Paint Dabbers used plus the dreaded Modge Podge........ I hope you don't hate it too much...........

On the bright side I had a great Art Class today and am definitely improving, so this cheered me up no end, especially after ruining my Grunge........

Now you have seen my example, please go over to Studio L3 and see how it should be done, some fabulous crafters are doing these challenges and its definitely worth looking.

Take care, am off to look at all your blogs and tomorrow I will try and get something right. Well you can only hope can't you........... Annette x
PS I was going to put this into Drunken Stampers as well, hence the bottle and glass, then realised it should have been a card, so wham thats a second mistake..... obviously reading is not my strong point........lol

Netty, I think it turned out wonderfully! I don't even see the Mod Podge here-- it just looks like a REALLY COOL tag! Great colors, and the stamp is fabulous. You inked the grunge perfectly! I really, truly love it!

By the way, you can TOTALLY upload this at Drunken Stampers. I'm on the DT there, and we don't require it to be a card. We'd love to have it on our blog!

Big hugs,
Linda

I think it's beautiful, Netty. Like you, I am not that familiar with grunge board or paper. In fact, I'm not sure I've ever seen any. I sure don't own any. I now know that if I get some not to use mod podge on it!!! Thanks for the important tip.

Jean Franks Beck said...

This is fun, fabulous, and whimsical - what a great piece!! And I don't at all think that you "ruined" it with the modge podge - it actually has the look of a carved and varnished wood piece, at least in the photo. I think you have simply invented another very cool thing to do with grungeboard! :)
