COMPENDIUM OF CURIOSITIES WEEK 9

Hi,
Another exciting start to the week for me with Linda's Compendium of Curiosities, just my most favourite of challenges. Am just like a child on Monday.....ooh what adventure are we going to have today ........ and this week its Distress Crackle Technique, Page 42 of the C of C. Linda always shows a terrific example over at StudioL3 to wet your appetite and its always yummy.

For my tag I used Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Clear Rock Candy, Distress Inks and a Mask. Stamp was by B Line Designs. One of cracklings didn't work out all that well and that was on the black flourish, not sure why. So please any of you experts out there I would be grateful for advice on this.

Being a bit naff, as I tend to be.... It was supposed to be a Mask within a Mask.......but somehow that has not really come off. Another bright idea out the window........lol
Ooh just realised I can enter this also in the Drunken Stampers Challenge... brilliant

Thank you for popping by and all advice re above and comments are gratefully received. Am off to my Art Class shortly to see what a disaster I can create there as well....... Enjoy your day, Annette x

I think this is wonderful even if your technique didn't work on the flourish it still looks excellent. You need to post some stuff that you do in art class, we would love to see what great stuff you come up with (I would love to do an art class, maybe when kids are older) x

Well done Netty, crackling does sometime vary according to the background. I love the idea of drunken stampers, and I have loads of wine in my fridge.....

Love your tag Netty! The clockface is really cool. Reminds me of an ancient enamel found in the ruins at archeological dig. Don't know if that was what you were going for, but it's fabulous!

Another awesome piece! Love your cracking!

Netty, this is sensational! I LOVE that crackled mask-- it's a great stamp, and you took it to a whole new dimension with the Rock Candy. Great background, too, and even if the flourish didn't crackle as much, the shiny black looks great with the blue and white.

Distress Paints can be a little moody and unpredictable. Different colors crackle differently, and so many factors seem to effect how they turn out. The good news is, they still look cool! And you're done a beautiful job on the CCC again this week.

Oh, and since I'm a Drunken Stamper, I also get to say "Thanks" for rocking our masking challenge!

I had a couple of failures before I was happy (well sort of happy) with the one I settled for. Yours looks lovely though, especially the face / mask.

Well, it's a mask on a mask, close, and besides it looks really cool!

Fabulous tag great masking works and you have achieved a mask within a mask with this. The crackle is very fine so it might not so up so well on black regardless it looks fabulous. xx Zoe

This turned out fabulous. I definitely cannot see anything wrong with the piece, love particularly the mask in the mask. And please can you show some work you create in your art class? I somehow have the feeling they are not disastrous at all (LOL)

I think this is very stirking, love the colour contrast and mask stamp - I've had trouble with differeing crackleness too but haven't really worked out why. Hope Art class was good - we had a lovely picnic thanks, though a bit exhausted now - lost count of the number of little faces I painted!! Happy WOYWW

Hi Netty... love love your tag. I have found the crackle paint does better on porous surfaces. I've never had much luck on slick, like photos and stuff before.. but even though love your tag, and the mask within the mask, ingenious.
