C OF C No 16 - Wrinkle Free Distress & ARTISAN SHOW

Hi,

The fab Linda from Studio L3 has chosen page 33 of the Compendium of Curiosities this week. Wrinkle Free Distress. As am a bit late this time with submitting my piece I have been admiring so many wonderful works of art already submitted, and wow they are gorgeous.

But have no idea why this technique is called this, so am obviously missing something.....just call me thicko I won't be offended. If anyone knows the answer to this I would love to hear.

Changing the subject..........I went to my first Craft Show yesterday, 'Artisan' in Warwickshire and met up with Daniele who sorted me out, thank goodness. Also met Jan, Wendy and another lady who I will call Maureen as can't quite remember her name, sorry about that, all blogging buddies who I'd never met before, they are lovely ladies and Jan gave me some of her wonderful craftings, ooh lucky me, thank you so much Jan.
Then I met for the first time Katy and Helen from Craft Stamp Magazine, again smashing ladies. Plus I met Jennie from The Artistic Stamper, who taught me how to use my melt pot (which hasn't been out of its packaging for over 3 months as was too scared to use it) then Daniele and I attended one of Jennies' workshops, brilliant.

Sorry its a long post, but wanted to share my day with you. Thank you for popping by and all the encouragement you so kindly give me. Have a great weekend, Annette x

Oooh, maybe I will try Artisan next year.... Jennie is great isn't she? She showed me how to do the technique that she posted on the blog with the acetate(ish) stuff and melt pot at Ally Pally and gave me a leaf to take away.

I have something for you on my blog Netty, will be in the post next week!!

This is a lovely sweet piece. I don't know why it's called wrinkle free distress ......

Sounds like you had a great day, I am going to Port Sunlight so I am hoping for just as much fun. Lovely piece of art Netty, lovely colours. This is called wrinkle free distress as you omit the scrunching up the tag first, to give you the wrinkles. Well I thought that was what it was anyway LOL. Have a good evening, Tracy Evans x

Valerie-Jael said...

Well done Netty. I don't know either why it's called wrinkle free - perhaps the crafters who do it lose their distress wrinkles??

hiya Annette, love your cage with the little fairy, I'm with you I don't know why its called wrinkle free.......might be because it looks like ironed out crumpled paper.....just a thought. Unfortunately Ethan came down with a sickness bug today so I guess we'll all go down with now
hugs

Annette, your CC challenge for this week is gorgeous. I missed last week entirely due to house guests.

You always upload creative pieces. I think they call this technique wrinkle free because when you use a kraft tag it curls when it is wet and as you dry it with your heat gun, it flattens out again.

Regardless, it is a fun technique on any product because of the colorful results, such as your beauty.

Lovely piece. That little winged fairy keeps getting higher on my wish list. Maybe it's called wrinkle free because we don't crumple it, throw it in the trash and then pull it back out saying certainly I can do something with this ;)

CuddlyBunny said...

Ouu! I love this piece! Your Compendium technique worked much more nicely than mine (which I haven't yet managed to post yet).

You created gorgeous, deeply-colored water spots ... and I love your little fairy ... so sweet! :)

p.s. Congrats on winning the "Lovely Blog Award" which you announced a couple of weeks ago ... you DESERVE it!

I love your piece. Many think their pieces have to be "doom and gloom" and you have proven you can use the techniques and still be full of sunshine. Kudos to you!
Have a sunny day!

Netty,
Love this!

Love your airy colors and theme! I figured its called this, because the first distress I had learned was wrinkling the tag, rubbing the pads over it, then spritzing with water. This sort of inverts the process with the craft sheet. I have to say..I'm loving it! I could never stamp cleanly with the original one.

I think you made a wonderful piece for this challenge, Annette! I just love the fun droplets you create with this technique. Congratulations on being a visiting artist at Gingersnaps - I'm so happy for you!

This is a gorgeous piece, Netty. I'm clueless on why its called Wrinkle free distress myself... my guess is when it is dry it looks like the effect of a inked wrinkled paper, but its not even wrinkled? LOL

Have a great Monday!

Sweet Netty, you've made another gorgeous work of art this week! What a brilliant use of the birdcage-- the little Stampotique girl is DARLING, perched there, gazing at the flower, and the soft pastels in your beautiful background and on the cage itself are just perfect. I LOVE this, honey!

Tracy is right about why it's called "wrinkle free" distressing. You can get a similar effect by wadding up a tag and dragging it through different colors of ink, but of course you end up with a REALLY distressed tag!
