WOO HOO its PAINT PARTY FRIDAY

Morning, Friday is becoming one of my favourite days of the week as its Paint Party Friday and I get to see a gallery of beautiful artwork by some fab artists (see my sidebar). One of the questions Kristin and Eva (hosts) asked us this week was how long we have been painting.........gulp gulp.........and what inspired us to paint. Well am going to be totally honest here. Started classes last year learning to draw and watercolour paint. When I started, couldn't even draw a box.........and still can't..........lol My inspiration to start with was purely practical. Just couldn't afford to buy all the stamps I wanted so thought why not learn to draw........... Since then have found I love drawing faces and adore the use of colour. Last week was my first painting using acrylics and was really struggling, but this fabulous group of artists left me many useful tips and gave me loads of encouragement, thank you so much.

The acrylic painting this week is called 'Thinking' because am not sure what to add to it, so its work in progress. The second piece was inspired by 'Nelly's Junk Drawer' and was drawn in black pen and coloured with Whisper Pens.

As you can see I have a long way to go, but am thoroughly enjoying the journey. Have completed the watercolour from the other week 'Poppy Girl' so hopefully you can see the difference.

Sorry about the long post and hope I haven't bored you to death........ Martin is slowly recovering from all the extractions but not sure if he can eat all the Easter Eggs, so guess will have to help him out..............lol Wishing you all a Very Happy Easter and to thank you for all your brilliant support. Hugs Annette x

Acrylics are great you can water them right down to look like watercolour or thicken them up to resemble oil. Love your offerings for the paint party friday you are one seriously talented chick and we love you loads x

You are a very talented Artist, Netty. Do you go to art classes near to where you live, or is it an on-line class? You would never know that you'd only been doing it for a year....so clever!! I take my hat off to you, Netty.

Have a wonderful weekend.

These are great. You are very good for only drawing for a year!!!! wow. I can totally see the influence from Nelly, too! she has the most amazing faces, it's great to be inspried by other artists! have a great weekend!

Annette
It is so inspiring that you wanted to learn to draw and actually did something about it. Many people say they want to draw/paint but never take that step of attending classes. Admirable and what you haev created are really beautiful.
I studied Art & Design at school but it has been many years since I last painted anything, other interests have taken over.
Maybe I should be inspired to join in Paint Party (if I am brave enough, which I don't think I am)
Have a wonderful easter weekend.
Wishes
Lynne

That is a secret yearning of mine. Maybe someday I'll take a lesson from YOU and step out of my safety net and try it! Happy Easter! <3 Candy

3 lovely pieces. I still love the poppy girl and like the other 2 very much, as well. It's hard to believe you haven't been doing this a long time. It's a good thing stamps are so expensive, or you may never have discovered your talent!

I love the poppies! It turned out lovely. I personally love the bold colors of acrylics - although I'm still learning how to use them too! What are the best tips you've been given?

Loved the story of the stamps leading you to drawing. I started classes last month to learn painting techniques.
How cool to be able to draw such different styles with your faces.

lenoracle said...

Oooh I love the first one looks like you're coming along with the acrylics! The colors look great.

I started off only working with watercolor for a long time and when I moved to acrylics I had a really hard time at first. I kept trying to use them like watercolors, mixing the paint with water and using the canvas as white. I realized my folly quickly enough, the best thing with acrylics is to use alot of paint and blent and use lots of white! Looks like you have the hang of it though.

Happy PPF!
