Hi, Kristin the terrific lady who runs the Summer of Colour challenges this week has chosen Brown and for an added bonus if you zip it up with another colour you get two shots at the challenge.
This is a page from my Art Journal I was feeling in a very brownish mood and needed a Sanctuary to tuck myself away from the world. Gradually I began to feel more at peace with myself and as my dark thoughts turned to lighter ones some very strange and exotic flowers started to grow. I dare not fully open my eyes in case they vanished and their beautiful perfume went with them............................
There are some wonderful and diverse art projects over at Summer of Colour this week, so many fab artists and creators.
Today a new and exciting Blog has begun, its called Artsee Bloggers. A place of Inspiration and Creativity (see my sidebar), well worth a visit and you can join in now thanks to the fab artist Geri Centonze.
Hope you all have had a great day and the sun is shining where you are. Take care, hugs Annette x

Love your page, those flowers would certainly help me out of a brown funk ;-)
Beautiful story to go with your lovely piece. I like the combination of colors too.
Love the blue color with the brown...just beautiful
Those lovely blue flowers lift the page from being too drab or somber and are actually quite intriguing! I like the page a lot and also your sharing about how it came to be. Thanks for visiting me....
What a gorgeous journal page, and thank you for sharing the way it came to be :)
Netty! I think this is my favorite painting I've seen on your blog so far. She's beautiful and soft and just looking at the painting, I can see she is in a peaceful sanctuary defined by the color brown. The blue flowers are magical and her face is so serene. It's interesting that (I think) you use the term brown when describing your original mood as a negative, but the brown in the painting is a positive. My experience of the brown in the painting is safe and nurturing. I think you transformed and worked through what you were experiencing through this painting. You transformed the brown? Is this the case?
I am so glad I came to your blog today, because what you shared (the transformative and meditative power of painting/creating) is something that has recently come into my mind. I think it was only recently, when I painted my Lady Moon for PPF, that the act of painting and the painting results became a tool--an act of exploring life, psyche and spirituality--for me.
Your experience you share here is gift to reflect on. Thank you. :)
this is beautiful abd serene netty.i love the brown colours with the pop of turquoise :D

Netty, Hi! This brown Sanctuary piece speaks to me. I just love it! I need alone time as an adult, but as a child I would most often be alone...in my own corner of the world. This page makes me feel safe...but yet have bold memories. I really love it. Thank you for sharing and for visiting my Blog!

The bright blue *did* zip it up. The only other one i've seen so far was natasha's brown and green, which was awesome too -

I love how your brown is actually a glow. The colors really work well together. Definitely feels like we are in the moment with the subject...hidden away.
This is lovely--gives a very calm and peaceful feeling. And I always love the brown and blues together just like you have paired them. Have a wonderful day!
