Woo Hoo, Its Paint Party Friday again......

Hi, have you had a week when everything you have touched has gone wrong.........well thats what my week has been like.  My paint and paintbrushes are totally working against me, am sure I heard them talking to each other and saying ''Oh No Not Her Again''...............what with this to put up with plus my creative Muse has cleared off I am not a happy bunny......................so am afraid my pieces today are not up to much plus they are still Works in Progress, or whatever the opposite of progress is because am not getting very far.......

Myrtle needs a little tweaking and then shells and beads will be added plus other bits and bobs

This ballet scene has caused me problems from the beginning so am putting it away until it can be sorted out, maybe next month if the paints want to play with me..............who can tell.

Oooh I sound such a moaner which is not like me at all.  But on the positive side I bought my first Easel yesterday and I love it.  The wood is so gorgeous.  So please girls at the Party I need wine and more wine to drown my sorrows..............lol

Hope you all have a terrific weekend and enjoy the sunshine.  Thank you for popping in and supporting me even when I have a bad week as your comments are bound to cheer me up.  Take care, Hugs Annette x

I especially like the way the first picture is laid out and eager to see how this develops. Don't be hard on yourself you are painting to order because of your classes never easy. XOXO Zoe

Sometimes when we look too much at our paintings we can't get a good perspective. Both of these are coming along very nicely, and I think you'll think that way too with a fresh eye. I especially love Myrtle--very creative.

Brenda Brown said...

These don't look as though you are having problems Annette, the ballerinas are coming along beautifully and Myrtle looks like she is surrounded by cork. I find it very effective and pleasing to the eye.
Have a good weekend.

Just get out some tequila it's more effective than wine and quicker, too. :) I love those WIP's. Don't worry, the muse is probably taking a bathroom break. She might've went for a smoke, too. But she'll be back don't worry. :)

There doesn't seem to be any problems there to me Nettie. Wish I could do as well! I think you're just being too hard on yourself. But we all get weeks when everything seems against us. Hope it's better for you next week my dear.

I love seeing WIP's as much as the finished paintings and these will be wonderful. When I get times like this I find it best to just leave the painting and do something else. Like watch other artists on you tube, read art magazines or go to places that inspire you. Look forward to seeing the finishes pieces. Happy PPF

I have to say that the first one really looks good like a view into a mermaid grotto - I know it will be fantastic when it is done b/c you got the whole 3D effect going on there. As for the ballet dancers I am in love with that one - the dancers look great and I love the background in all the pastel colors like bubbles. Reminds me of a Degas painting only I like it better!!! If you ever put that one up for sale or create prints I want to know about it!!! It would also look great as a card. Don't change it too much - sometimes things are just done when they're done.

Paintings are lovely ~ My thought is that creating goes in cycles like everything else and what you may be going through is giving birth to something new in your painting and when that cycle is through then you will feel less agitated ~ Just my humble thoughts ~Thanks, namaste, Carol (Share the Creative Journey) Happy PPF ^_^

Some days you just have to turn away from the paints and find something to fill up the creative well.

Giving myself permission to walk away when the art isn't working saves my sanity.

Hi Annette, I've missed your posts!!!

I like your ballerina piece so keep working with it because it is beautiful.

I personally really like both of these- especially the dancers! Sometimes I feel drained spiritually and it's hard to look at anything objectively! That's when the best thing to do is put it away for a bit- I bet you'll find that you like it a LOT more later!

I don't have any wine in the house but I have some chocolate I could share. :) I think these are both looking really good. I especially like the dotty background on the ballerinas. When you are in the mood to work on them they will probably practically finish themselves.

I wish I could get my lil liz to look like that! Very cool!!!! Hugs, Deb

Annette, it's normal to feel that way sometimes. I have experienced the same too.. and it's frustrating! The best thing like you have just done is to just set it aside and work on something else. Sometimes there are things seeking your attention first:) Hope you have a great day!

I think your paintings are coming along well, too. We usually are our own worst critics. :)

But I have had weeks like that...however, it is usually during these weeks that I learn the most.

Thanks, too, for joining my art blog hop and posting the button on your site.
I really enjoy following your blog.

All the best,

May your muse see your new easel and come rushing back with a bottle of wine and an apology. Like all those that posted before me, I am NOT seeing the problems in your work! I am loving them, and all that great texture. I raise my wine glass to you (okay not right now since it's 10AM, but I'll raise it tonight, OK?)

Netty, I LOVE your work, even when you think your tools are talking behind your back and your muse has taken off to run an errand! Hey, tell me about your easel! Which one did you end up getting, I was looking at making that investment too, but so many different kinds ...

I can definitely help you with the wine!!!

Your paintings are beautiful and both are progressing beautifully ! I'm feeling a bit lack lustre myself at the moment and sympathise as for the moaning being somewhat of an expert on the subject , your comments can not be considered moaning you are just expressing your feelings. Hi Nettie. Nice to see you. I love your dancing girls and you're doing a fantastic job. Yay!

Anonymous said...

Well, first of all, I completely understand what you are sharing here. We know what we want to create on the canvas and if it falls short and just goes in the "wrong" direction, it doesn't matter if others think what we made is beautiful, because we know it isn't where it will be, what we want it to be. And so, we keep working at it, or put it away for a while (as you have done) and work on something else.

OK, with that said, I am enjoying what you've shared here. The dancers are beautiful! The colors and execution are skillful. I'm fascinated with what you're doing with the first painting--has me thinking of a portal.

I adore your art and have to say that I can't imagine what you're not liking about the ballet girls.

The piece's colors and textures are soft and beautiful; they mimic the wonderful light-stepping that your dancers clearly possess.

Well, I like the ballet one. Don't know what you thought would work out with that, but it really speaks to me of a quiet time backstage, before a curtain call. Lovely!
