Hi, am showing my Art Class homework today............no painting involved just pencils. When the tutor gave me these people to sketch, my heart sank I can tell you as its by far the most difficult thing have had to do.
Am hoping on Wednesday when I take them to her she will be able to advise me, as would love to be able to do better than this.
Now am off to see some great art being produced at Paint Party Friday and to visit all my friends blogs between now and the weekend.
Wishing you a very happy weekend and thank you for all your fab support. Take care, hugs Annette x

I hate drawing faces and I think you have handled these admirably... it is intimidating trying to get them to look like the subject, but I am sure your teacher will give you so many great tips and I hope you re post them if you do any adjustments...xx
Great sketches, dear Netty!
(I'm too stupid to draw faces:-))
Have a nice weekend my friend.
Hugs
MARTINA
Very nicely done!
Hi Netty, these are great, pencil drawing is always difficult and so time consuming, you have done a brilliant job. The first reminds me of David Jason. Have a great weekend. XX
I think these are really good. is the first one David Jason - it looks a lot like him. I love the sparkle in the second one's eyes!
Yes the first one is supposed to be David Jason and the other is a boxer but don't know who. Am delighted that you could see a likeness to David Jason which was more than I expected...........lol xx
oh...they are great...i would not ever be able to do a face ...i love the look on the first dude...enjoy visiting and have a great weekend...xxx
Spotted David Jason right away (not familar with boxers). Faces are hard, especially well known people. I've managed a total of one (of actor Toby Jones) I was happy with.
I think you've captured so much spirit and personality in these sketches. Happy PPF!

You are so much better than me at drawing faces, so well done you
have fun at class
hugs
What a wonderful job you did here! It's so hard to draw faces, and especially achieve a likness, but these are great! Happy PPF!
Amazing sketches my dear Netty.
Wonderful drawing. Love them.
Have a lovely weekend. xoxo
Don't always put yourself down Nettie, drawing faces is so hard and I think you have done a great job!!
Enjoy the weekend hopefully with a bit of sunshine....
You have done well with these faces! Valerie
Really great drawings Nettie. Have a great weekend.
wish i could draw like that!
beautiful! Have a nice weekend!
Nice sketches, I love that look great!
I think your pencil sketches are very good!! Great job!!
Faces are difficult! You are doing well!
Hi Netty. The sketches look fabulous. Wish I could draw. Have a wonderful weekend.
Regards Florence xxx
Wow! Netty ~ You have captured the 'essence' of these two ~ excellent sketches ~thanks, namaste, ^_^
I can just imagine how you felt being given your 'homework' Annette. I couldn't possibly draw any face let alone try to make a likeness. I think you've done brilliantly.
I've sent you a Facebook request as I wanted to leave a comment on your photo on there and also, I thought you might like to take a look at a photo I've shared this morning as well. It's a charcoal portrait that my son finished this morning. I would just add that he is an art tutor but what I wouldn't give to be able to draw faces like that and he's just as good with pencils.
Hugs

Fantastic face sketches, love the eyes of both. I also spotted David.,
Have a good weekend.

Netty, I always find I learn a lot from drawing but sympathise when they are not the faces one WANTS to draw LOL... good job & just realised I wasn't following your blog :( No excuses for missing posts now I'm following... well except for tardiness ;)
Hi Netty, as you know I love faces and these are wonderful!! Beautiful details and shading! Excellent! Hugs, Silke
Portraits are a challenge, and I think you handled these really well. I'm impressed with you for doing something that you found intimidating.
Wow..these are fabulous Annette!! Gorgeous deepset eyes..sublime shading..both deep dark contrasts popping out and yet also soft diffusions..textures and shading....totally beautiful!!
Wonderful pieces..shine on!!
Victoria
portraits are a beast! keep on working! you are doing great-love your alice book!!!
Great work. With portraits we get so hung up on creating a likeness.. but that's just it isn't it - a likeness, what and how the artist interprets what she sees. Picasso didn't worry about it. Keep up the great work, Nettie. Happy PPF
Netty your sketches are wonderful. The second one's eyes are almost magical. It looks like he is looking deep into your soul. Nicely done. Have a great weekend. Thanks for sharing.
These sketches can be turned into wonderful works. Saludos
Wow- I would so so so struggle with having to create anything with a likeness- I think you've done a fabulous job here. Congrats for tackling a task that took you out of your comfort zone! Happy PPF!
I think you did a great job with your assignment!
I think they are brilliant Annette, and I am sure your tutor will agree.

Fabulous sketches, Annette~!
You did a great job! Love it! :)
Love your sketches, I think you did great!!
Happy PPF Netty!!
You're doing a wonderful job with your sketching. Don't be so hard on yourself!! All the practice you are getting will pay off in future art work.
You're doing very well Nettie!!! Just draw what you see, not what you THINK you see and it will all come together! Bravo! Happy PPF! xoxo
Your sketches are well done! I have difficulty with drawing faces, and can imagine how I'd feel if that was my homework. O.o Happy PPF!
great sketches. I love drawing faces. They both look very realistic, especially the second.
Mimi Torchia Boothby
These look awesome to me Annette, the first definitely has David Jason as a title, but don't know the second one.
Have a great weekend.
hugs {brenda} xox
I think you did well! I find faces very intimidating.
Great sketches, very expressive!
Great work!
Enjoy the weekend, hugs:)
Netty your sketches are excellent, so well done!
These are amazing Annette! Again the eyes look right through the screen at me!
Netty I especially love the old man on the left. He reminds me of a guy in a comedy - Scottish - about two retired old men.... can't remember the name of it!
It might have been Still Game!
beautiful sketches Netty, such detail!
These are fabulous! Wow. What amazing detail. Keep it up!
I love seeing your homework! They look great to me. Thanks for sharing! Happy PPF!
I think you did quite well! I'm terrible at sketching realistic faces.
Catherine Denton
oh Annette, you should be proud of these, regardless of what your teacher tells you. Portraits take a LOT of practice. I especially love the first one... I think you captured his expression perfectly. I really love the soft shading too... Hold your head up high. I love them. xoxo
Faces are so hard but I think you have done very well. Keep at it.
Happy PPF!

Thanks for sharing!
Hugs Giggles
Wonderful job Nettie, love the sparkle in the eye and the beautiful shading.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Warm hugs

Wow, that's a difficult subject to just be handed for homework to do on your own! You've made a fine start and there may be some tweaking to do after showing them to your tutor but I think that's expected with any art homework. I think you should be pleased with these!
Netty, I don't know how you do all of this, but each piece is amazing! You are one big talent ball! Happy Weekend!
Wow! Well I think your teacher will be really proud! These are beautiful drawings - and they must have been difficult to do!
Thank you for your sweet comment - you always crack me up - I want to be YOU when I grow up ;) xoxoxo
Well they look great to me. Peoples faces are the hardest thing to do. Well hands come next..lol.. Happy PPF.
Hi Netty I feel I have really neglected you, You have left me some lovely comments on my blog and for some reason its the first time I've popped over to Netty's Craftings. So I've been having a look at your work and you've done lots of lovely projects. I'm very impressed with your jigsaw pot sticks what a great idea. Excellent work on the faces very brave of you . I shall be joining you and will pop over again Happy crafting x Toni
I've just been looking at some of your older posts and found more fabulous work x toni
I remind myself that portraits are not photographs and therefor are not going to look exactly like the person being drawn; these have character and expression and I am betting they look darn close to the real deal! HPPF!
Your a star you, so talented lovely lady these are just fabulous xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Faces are SO hard, but you've got a good handle on it, the sketches are GREAT!!
Hi Netty! You did a wonderful job! It is so rewarding to complete something that initially scares us just a little bit. :) Wonderful!
love your sketches Netty! - the first one is an amazing likeness of David Jason :)
OOH! Faces in pencil. Both are difficult, both subject and the medium. First time around..great! I know you have already learned a lot and it will be more fun for you as your teacher gives more input. I can't wait to see your next endeavor,Netty.
beautiful work netty, drawing faces are a challenge, I have had to start a new blog, I hope you will find me, I have called it when the bough broke!
Great work!!! Have a great weekend. Hugs!
I think you did a wonderful job on these Netty. They have quite a nice feel and quality to them both. You do have a great way with the eyes. Just lovely.
These look wonderful. I have to say I a Not very good at drawing faces. I am guessing it takes a lot of practice..
Hugs~
Brave and great effort! I am practicing a lot too...to draw faces:)
Did you do them? Dude! they are great Nettie, don't be so critical of yourself! It is not like sketching is easy! Looking forward to seeing more! Kim
I understand your preference to improve, as we're all critical of our own work ... but I have to say that I think your sketches are wonderful!
I haven´t tried male portraits yet. You´ve done great!
Btw: I do put my inks in line when I work. :D In fact, I put everything in line. As I said, I´m on the verge of OCD.
It's late Sunday night and I'm just getting caught up on the blogs that I follow. :) Your sketches are really good!! I could never draw a face like that! They are so hard! Love your sketches! <3 Candy
Wonderful paintings.
You do a much better job than I do, Netty! these are really great :)
xoxo

Drawing faces can be very difficult, you have done a good job Netty. It's all about the artist interpretation. x
I never try to draw men... you have done these wonderfully Annette. I know how much practice it takes to get them right. Im learning every day and pencil drawing takes sooooo long. Keep it up you did good.
