Acrylic Paints on Heavy Duty Paper |
Am showing my Art Class Homework today. Not sure if its finished yet..............mmmm, anyways I have to hand it in on Wednesday and am afraid I have been very naughty...................
This is what I should have imitated, BUT, got the angle of the head all wrong plus a couple of other things, so instead of tearing it up I carried on. Will probably have to do it properly next time as am sure she won't let me get away with it, especially after adding a bird..........lol
Frederick had passed through the Tunnel - only his Shadow remained ! |
Would also like to share with you today another Art challenge where Ariane has asked us to portray Shadow in anyway we like. This piece was painted in my Art Journal, then I decoloured it and wrote the words digitally. Not sure what inspired me to paint this but sometimes you just have to don't you.
Am off to catch up on all my friends blogs and visit the wonderful Artists at the Party. Take care of yourselves and have a wonderful weekend. Hugs Annette xx

Absolutely stunning - and you have put your own 'stamp' on it so the head being at an every so slightly different angle doesn't matter in the least bit!
i love what you did with the first one. for me a photo like that is mere inspiration... but i understand you had an assignment.
the shadow is awesome too, your words truly support it.
Love your portrait Nettie, the expression in her eyes is awesome, common she will have to give you some credit for that, I think it's great you kept going with it.
Honestly, I am not totally sure about the other piece, but it certainly is creative.
have a great weekend!
Lovely portrait and adding that bird is fitting! I love your journal. It's quite special
What a brilliant inspiring you have made annette. This is really stunning art work.
the shadow is so very awesome, great work.
Lovely greet

Love both paintings, but the shadow is my fave, dark and mysterious! Valerie
oh wow... great Netty!
Oh WOW.....it gets better and better Netty! The texture and colour in the first one is fantastic and the shadow piece is so dramatic. BRILLIANT! Have a good weekend xxx
Well, you may have been naughty, Netty but it's fab work - I love it and her expression is wonderful. Great colours, but I particularly love the way you did the top of her dress/tunic. Have a great Jubilee weekend xxx
Netty your painting is very striking.
So beautiful work. Love them.
Have a sunny weekend my dear friend. xoxo

Amazing artwork Netty. Don't be too tough on yourself.xx They are both truly beautiful pieces.
I hope you have a lovely weekend and the sunshines, it seems to have disappeared here!
Thanks for asking how I am, it's bronchitis and tonsilitis so it's going to take a few days, mwah! I don't do being ill!!!
Wow, these are fabulous Netty, I love the blingy bits on the first one. xx
Both paintings are beautiful. I love the details on the first one and how different the second one is. Your work is inspiring.
Wow, both painting are wonderful. Love the detail on the first one, super. :)
That is great homework. :) Love it!
Love the work for Art Class, especially her dress. The shadow painting is great. And yes, sometimes we just have to. :-)
I love both these pieces Annette and they are both so different. I loved the portrait when it was just a sketch and you haven't disappointed now it's painted. The portrait you used for inspiration was just that so I don't see how anyone would expect yours to look the same.
The shadow journal page is more than a bit mysterious but I love it. Very atmospheric!
Hugs

Artwork is exquisite and as for 'teacher' ~ she is only a guide and there is no exact science in art ~ carry on ~ thanks, ^_^
The girl looks much although it bows is slightly modified, your second work is interesting, I like it.
Your painting is just gorgeous!! Really love the colors and texture, and I like the added bird! The journal page is great to, love the monotone and sentiment!
I feel as if I could touch the fabric of her top...it is beautiful work! The entire portrait portrait is stunning. Put your photo away and enjoy this portrait for what it is...lovely work! Happy PPF
Hi Annette,
Well , I’m back and I have the rest of today free so as to catch up on everyone’s creations since I have been away refurbishing my old house.
I adore reading the blog’s and looking at all the lovely cards and projects, almost as much as making the cards myself.
Thank you for your lovely comments on my blog , its so nice to keep in touch.
Two stunners here Annette, I love the lady , her dress is fabulous , stunning creation.
Great work well done ,
Hugs Elaine
Oh this is gorgeous Netty. Your work just keeps getting better and better. I wouldn't worry about the angle of her head not being the same. You captured her so well otherwise.
oh wow! beautiful work this week Netty, I love them both!
I love your lady...and your journal page is mesmerizing!!!! love it!
cheers, dana
Netty, that is what artistic license is all about - the photo is only for inspiration - you add your own style to it and I, for one, love the addition of the bird!
Personally, I like yours better than the reference, especially because you added the bird- wonderful! Oh, and I think it's finished....
PPF Hugs,
Stephanie
P.S. Listen to the teacher to get the knowledge, but never forget; at the end of the day- it's YOUR choices in your art that make it uniquely yours!
Both of your pieces are amazing. I love all the details in the girls outfit!! Beautiful!
Both are gorgeous Annette! I like the bird on her shoulder and although I can see the different angle of the face it still totally looks like the same person which seems like it would be harder to do. Lets hope she sees it that way too lol.
Netty, your art pieces are so wonderful! Wow...your painting compared to your inspiration from the magazine is really amazing! That bird added on her shoulder is really clever, too. I so admire your talent and your inspiration! <3 Candy
Well you KNOW I love the bird. :) it looks great to me too. Also that is what art is all about.. what inspires YOU. keep up the good work. Happy PPF.
Netty, I love this just the way it is and I do love your addition of the birdie and the blouse bling is very cool! Both are just amazing! Happy Firday!
Gorgeous work, Netty. This one turned out beautifully. I love the added bird, it really makes the painting great. Happy PPF
I like what you did with this painting. The colors are beautiful and you made it your own, rather than just copy the original.
Love that first one Nettie. Her blouse/vest is just awesome. All great things here and thank you for sharing. Happy PPF!
this is great , Netty. You captured her face wonderfully, and the top she is wearing is fabulous too. I would wear something like this ! my my the bird is very nice too...I like that you added sweet little bird.
the shadow art is very good and seems like it is from a vintage book...like it has a great mystery story to go with it.

I love this painting. You took a reference photo and used to inspire something utterly your own. What's wrong with that? Nothing!
Great job with her dress!!! Love it!
But I like the bird- perhaps the photographer should add a bird to make it match your painting! This is fantastic! Happy PPF!
Nettie, you are so gifted! What a talent you have for all forms of art. I, personally, think that your version is much better than the original - the bird is a perfect touch! Hugs...
Beautiful work Netty! I think you have given your touch to this nice lady! Ciao!
HI Netty!! Wow..fabulous she is very enchanting and i am drawn to the bid..beautiful!Love the embellished vibe to her clothes and a feeling of decadence too..she is brilliant!

I certainly hope your teacher is not expecting you to duplicate the photo you used as a prompt!
Your additions are what make it your art!
As a textile artist too I really had to look hard to see that it was really just paint and not fabric and sequins added to the dress!
Beautifully done Netty! Bravo! A++
I have to go back now and give more attention to the shadow piece.
HPPF
I love all the texture you created on her blouse! I love that adorable little bird too. Happy PPF!
Oh, I love this shadow piece. Very haunting!
Netty I love your work, the lady and bird are just beautiful! Also your black and white piece, love it, so happy you shared with us, thanks! xx
I love the texture of this piece and how you added the bird to her shoulder!
Wonderful painting, I love the detail of the bird, delicious colors. Greetings.
This reminds me of the little bird I'm taking care of these days, sitting on my shoulder. Ahhh synchronicity, love that! Beautiful art. :)
It's beautiful!! I love the added bird, so cute! Happy PPF!
What an amazing work of art.. Your painting is FAB.. And I also love your shadow piece.. So creative my friend..
Hugs~
Oh, Netty! THIS IS AWESOME! The first thing that really captured me was the detail on her shirt - the beading you created with glitter (I assume ;) is really gorgeous! And I love the little bird, even if it does get you in trouble ;)
LOVE to you, xo
I absolutely love your painting it is amazing! so lovely the pearls on her shirt!... and the shadowed one is so cool too...yes we have to go with the flow ;) thats for sure!
I love the beading on her shirt and I don´t think it is important to get the head exactly the same as on the foto...you used your "artistic license" and that is good:) Happy PPF to you too.
Hi Netty, love what you are doing and even though you may not be pleased with it others are. In a few days you will say you know that isn't so bad after all. I think your version of the homework i s fabulous - the bird is a perfect addition! (My only question is about her missing arm...?)
The photo interpretation is so cool. Love it!
Oh! I forgot to say: the pillow was sealed with a spray to protect it from smudging, but I expect (and hope ;) that it will be used for decoration only ;) xoxo

Hi Netty. Amazing work. Love the tunic and the bird.

Love your painting and you can use the artistic license rule when the teachers says it isn't the same as the picture you were to copy from.
Love the black and white, shadow pic.

Hi Netty! Your shadow painting is striking and Lady with the Bird is beautiful, love your decorative touch, it looks so rich and - art deco!
Hi Netty, it is fabulous, love how you've drawn and painted it the bird is a brilliant touch. Have a great weekend. xx
Fabulous paintings, really great.
Annette the picture you are using as your model looks fearful and your work looks pensive. I adore your work. The bird is a wonderful addition and just pay attention to your muse and don't think about what the outcome will be. Your own work is the best, by far!!
I am happy to see that all that remains of (what was his name again? LOL), is his shadow. Strong idea. Love your work. *smiles* Norma
Hi dear Netty,
thank you for your shadow play in the tunnel. Its a little bit scary for me... do I hear some whispers?
You are brave!
Greeting to your pretty Lady with bird,
xAriane
I like your painting better than the photo! and the bird really adds to the piece as a whole!
