Paint Party Friday

Hi, met my friend from Wales at the NEC in Birmingham despite her coach breaking down, it was so great to see her.  As she was late I did a little shopping, just a little honestly.  Met loads of celebrities from the Crafting World, it seemed funny seeing them in the flesh so to speak, but needless to say I dare not speak to them, daft I know but its the way I am.  But did speak to Hels as she was doing a little shopping also, such a lovely lady.  Anyways enough of my chatting and on with what have been making.
This canvas is going to be a Christmas Present; covered in Black Gesso, stencilled in gold acrylic paint.   The beautiful girl is a stamp designed by Sam Poole for Creative Expressions and has been paper pieced. The large foam flower stamp I bought from Paper Artsy which has been stamped three times with Copper, Blue and White Acrylic Paint.
I would like to enter this canvas into the Rogue Redhead Challenge this month - anything but a card.

Now prepare yourself for a shock...............

I am experimenting for the first time with Water Mixable Oil Colours.  Am showing the underpainting and yes it looks pretty gruesome.  Hope to show you next Friday at Paint Party Friday it completed.  Its a great medium and am truly loving these paints.  Who knows what the outcome will be, but believe me its a fab adventure.

Won't be able to visit you until early evening as have had to cancel my art class due to the fact have to take Mum to hospital as she cannot drive herself at the moment.  So will miss my introduction into watercolours, but hopefully will catch up the week after if all goes OK with Mum.

Wishing you a smashing weekend and thank you for popping in and supporting me.  Take care, Annette x

Fab pieces both of them Netty. I think the latest painting looks fantastic, it has that definite Modigliani feel to it again! Good to here you had fun at the NEC. Know just what you mean about talking to celebs, but nice you got to meet Hels at least. I look forward to meeting her one day in the flesh too:o)

Beautiful as always, Netty! Glad you got to chat to Hels, she is lovely. Wish I could get to NEC but too costly to travel, let alone shop...!!

Love your adventure into those water soluble oils, Netty. I bought the beginner box which has only 6 colors. So I am augmenting with regular oils for browns and blacks. Hope that works! LOL! I like what you have started and look forward to seeing it progress.

Hope all is well with your Mum. I like both your paintings - especially like the butterfly-like wings on the angel, never seen that before! Can't wait to seen the last piece next week - she looks so sad. BTW, I love the water mixable oil colours -haven't used them in a number of years but they are the only kind I would use because of allergies to turpentine.

These are both great Annette. I love the canvas, the colours are so striking on the black. The painting is looking great and perversely I rather like it as is. I'm sure it will look wonderful when it's finished though.

Hope your Mum's ok but glad you had such a good time at the NEC. I would love to have gone tomorrow but my care is going in for it's annual service. I know what you mean about finding it difficult to say hello to people you recognise because I'm just the same and yet, whenever I have they're always lovely, lol!

Two great paintings, 'Follow your heart' will make a lovely gift for someone special. I have not seen water mixable oil paints but they sound like fun to work with, I will have to keep an eye out for those. It sounds like you had a good time at the NEC I used to live quite locally to it when i lived in Derby but i dont think I would like to do it in a day now!!

Love the new paintings, and can't wait to see the finished oil painting, it looks really mysterious and intriguing so far.

Hope all goes well with your Mum.

I like your under painting. I'm so glad you found the water mixable's and like them. I use them and love them but many people don't. They're tricky if you are used to oil painting. I think they are easy if you are used to painting with acrylics. Acrylic people are used to the drying factor.
Have fun with it, enjoy your weekend!

Very fun to see people in person, I know what you mean about not talking to them, though . . .

Anyway, the first canvas is lovely, and the second doesn't strike me as gruesome, but very mysterious and a little sad.

Thank you for joining in the challenge at Rogue Redhead Designs, Netty!

Extraordinary creations - there's something rather wonderful about the part-finished one, already with such atmosphere to it. And the first one, with those triple-stamped flower heads... amazing!

I made it to the NEC on the Sunday, and met up with the lovely Buttons. She was celeb-spotting, but I'm afraid I'm not up to speed enough with that side of things!!

Thanks so much for your lovely comment over at mine, as always, so much appreciated.
