Woo Hoo its another PAINT PARTY FRIDAY

Hi, have woken up with a stinking cold, brill like I really needed this when its Paint Party Friday, where every one will be drinking wine and I will be downing the LemSips..........such a party pooper.........lol

I made another drawing of Dawn French and then watercoloured her.........oh dear poor Dawn, looks nothing like her now........Instead we have a very nice and kindly lady.............

I also attempted for the first time Acrylics ...........well what a catastrophe........its blooming awful, she looks as if she has grown an extra arm.......lol so am going to have to go on UTube for some demos and not attempt to wing it again.

If you would love to see some really great Art and not this rubbish pop over to Paint Party Friday (see my sidebar)

Am off now to have another Lemsip, will catch up with you all later. Thank you for popping by and take care 'atishoo' 'atishoo' , Hugs Annette x

Not bad with your Dawn French portrait. Not bad at all.

Oh, acrylic ... you're not the only one. I 'm having a hard time working with it.

Keep trying and I'm sure you'll get there. ;)

Nettie,
I like your watercolor portrait and acrylic...don't be so hard on yourself. Acrylics can be difficult especially if you have been working with watercolors. Hang in there. As far as the 3rd arm, I had an art teacher once tell me that nothing can't be fixed (or hidden)! :)

Love your work again, don't be so nasty to yourself! Enjoy your lemsips, I'm sticking to grapefruit juice today!

Your paintings look great to me! Your acrylic lady is REALLY good! Fantastic work!

I still think it really looks like Dawn!! I haven't tried acrylics but if they're anything like oils i can totally relate to your frustration!

Hope you feel better soon.

Don't do yourself down. I think both of your paintings are fab.

I think you're doing a fab job with these pieces Netty! Hope you feel better soon!

I've caught it too Netty - just had a blackcurrant lemsip but my head still hurts!

I think both paintings are fab. Love Dawn's eyes in particular. As for the second one, apart from the third arm (lol), I think it's beautiful! I love the vibrant colours and flowers and the flesh tones (not that I'm an expert, but I do know what I like!)

Have a good (atishoo) weekend x

I could tell it was Dawn French so it can't be that bad. I really like it as to why your painting Dawn French is another matter lol

Love Dawn xx

I like the portrait. Don't be so hard on yourself! :-)

They are both gorgeous! The last one does look like she has grown an arm but you could totaly go with that. :)

I really love your Dawn French - she looks great! I agree acrylic paints are difficult - I only use them for stamping and backgrounds, but I did try a technique by Sheena Douglas (paint fusion) its a kind of folk art look and that worked out quite well. I am sitting here with lots of tissues and know just how you are feeling at the moment!!! I hope we get better soon!! :) have a lovely weekend x

Hi Netty, I am so sorry you are under the weather, but your paintings are lovely. Your acrylic painting is fine, I don't see another arm. Happy PPF. :-)

Deanna said...

I think your portrait bears a strong resemblance. You have done a lovely job.

I recently gave acrylics another try and it was a disaster. It's strange because I've used acrylics before to paint wood objects and those turn out fine, but give me more expensive acrylics and canvas and I'm just making a mess. lol.

lol with you Netty you are far to hard on yourself, now I can't draw for anything(including chocolate!)but I see Dawn in your picture and I love the vibrant colours and your ladies face is beautiful in the second one.
Hope you feel better soon.

Hope yo feel better. Your paintings are great! I like acrylics. You'll learn to love them very soon. Great work. Happy PPF to you.

Netty! You are being way too harsh on yourself. Your portrait is beautiful! The skin tone is gorgeous and I love it. I think watercolor is very difficult and YOURS is lovely!

Acrylics are not that hard! The nice thing is you can always paint over them. No biggie! Your painting has great things going on! Beautiful colors, a lovely lady! If you don't like anything, you can just paint over the parts you don't like. Voila! Layers! ;)

I think you did a great job with both paintings. Your acrylic painting looks wonderful, really!! There's a lot of fun stuff going on there. And a great thing about acrylics is that you can paint over the parts you don't like!

Hope you feel lots better soon.

These are both really good, don't be down on yourself. Acrylics are great in the fact that you can paint over your boo-boos unlike watercolor.

I love your art, Netty. I think your drawing and your painting of it are fabulous. As for your cold, I don't know what LemSips are but I do know that Zicam shortens and lessens the effects of a cold. I had one 2 weeks ago and it was mild and only a few days long.

Kristin Dudish said...

Oh Netty, I think you're being way too hard on yourself! I really like your vibrant colors :)

Keep going - Pam is right, if there is something you don't like just paint over it!

Feel better soon...

I think your creations are fabulous! Must be your LemSips talking :)

sorry about your darn cold.

Lynn Stevens said...

So sorry to hear your feeling poorly!
Netty acrylics are a hard medium to master. try working with washes of acrylics and build them up. blending is the hardest since it dries so fast, keep it up! practice makes perfect and enjoy the journey!
hugs Lynn

Maggie said...

Oh, you have been much too hard on yourself! These are both lovely. Sometimes feeling poorly will cause us to see things negatively. That must be it!

Sugar Lump Studios said...

Nettie I hope you are feeling better! Colds are the worst! I love your beautiful painting! :)

Jan Hennings said...

Beautiful watercolor! Nettie, you're so talented!

Unknown said...

I have to chime in with all the above comments- you're being WAY too hard on yourself!
I like both these pieces, but my favorite is the acrylic painting. It does look like she has an extra arm, but the best part of acrylics is you can always go over anything you're not happy with! I'd add some more of your wonderfully vibrant flowers and the arm is gone and your painting is DONE! I'm just sayin....
Happy PPF (a day late ;))

Hope you are feeling better Nettie! Like everyone, I think you're being too critical of your work. Portraits are not an easy accomplishment. I happen to love all the pops of color springing from your acrylic piece and would just gesso out that "arm" and keep going!

Ileana said...

First of all, I LOVE your sense of humor...and I'd be happy to down some LemSips (whatever that is) with you while the others drink wine. I'm not feeling all that hot myself. :/

Now, your portraits and attempt at acrylics are amazing. Seriously, couldn't find that extra arm growing, but I do notice you have a gift for expression and creating a mood with your paintings. Very nice job! I look forward to seeing more of your work.

PS - Let me know if you find any good demos on acrylics on YouTube. I'm working with Kids Paint but have some acrylics I plan to use as well. Thx and Happy Saturday!! Hope you're feeling better.

Your painting is rubbish free! You are too funny! I personally love your paintings or I would not be stopping by! Now look at all your visitors and they all agree!! You are very creative and do lovely art! Happy Weekend!

Carola Bartz said...

Your inner critic's voice is way too loud! If you hadn't mantioned the "extra arm" I wouldn't have noticed! Both paintings are actually very beautiful, I admire your portrait. So please don't listen to inner critic and send him away instead!

EVA said...

LOL! I hope you are feeling better Netty! I was a party pooper too yesterday but couldn't even keep water done let alone a LemSip - whatever they are.

I think if you changed the colour if that "3rd arm", it would look great and not like an arm LOL. Acrylics are easy to paint over.

Feel better!!

Fun, Netty!

Feel better soon, 'kay?

I really like your acrylic!!!! :0) Once you get the hang of them acrylic paints are great to use! You can always paint over something with acrylics that's why I like them so much! Your watercolour of Dawn is great. I really like the expression you have captured on her face.
Hope you are feeling better today take care xoxo

I think they are lovely.
First get over your cold and in time I'm sure you'll get more of what you are searching for. Being ill doesn't help one's concentration sometimes.
Take care and feel better soon.
