Hi, its Paint Party Friday again..........it comes around so quickly. Hosted by those great gals Kristin and Eva and supported by loads of fabulous artists, from beginners to professionals. As you know I am in the beginner status and am having the greatest adventures playing around with the brushes and paints. Both of these paintings are Works in Progress.
' On the Beach ' is painted in watercolours.............mmmmm no room for mistakes with this medium, so to be honest I find it very tough going. But am determined to finish it even if it ends up in the rubbish bin with the others.......
Now what the heck is this I hear you say...............have no idea.............just wanted to play with the acrylics.....and this is how its turning out. Still loads and loads to do on it and heaven only knows how it will end up.............lol
Thank you for popping in; supporting and giving me such great encouragement to keep going, its very much appreciated. Wishing you a smashing weekend. Take care and will be seeing you all later as have to schedule this post as off to the nurse in the morning to get my hands dressed.........yep am wearing the latest fashion in white cotton fingerless gloves...........a very cool look............lol Hugs Annette x

Hey Nettie these are amazing, I think you are rapidly heading out of "beginners status" lol. Particularly love the water colour one! Such depth to it and the softness is just beautiful. I know how unforgiving water colour painting can be, but hey on good quality paper and with a damp clean brush, you can take bits away lol. Not that there is any need on your painting though, just saying:o)
Both of these are fabulous Annette, especially the water colour.xxx
They are both looking lovely. Love the colours in the second painting and can't wait to see it completed. Have a lovely day. Hugs Anesha

Nettie the beach scene is stunning.

I love your beach scene. I really don't believe there are mistakes with watercolor. Sometimes the "mistakes" end up being the most interesting part.
These are fantastic! I am drawn to the acrylic one - that is just intriguing where it will go. You Looking forward to seeing more of it!

Can only imagine how hard the proportions are of all the beach peeps. Love the colors. And I'm curious about #2... always love seeing these "pre" pics of yours before the finished ones. Have a wonderful weekend!
Did I see a red little bottom? Your little beach scene is adorable and makes me want to put my feet in the sand! Have a great weekend!
Your paintings look amazing my friend.. I just love seeing your random work.. So Cool...
Happy PPF!!
Lovely WIP, Netty. Love the watercolor and yes, it is sometimes pretty unforgiving. I am interested in knowing what brand acrylics and what consistency you use. No, the lady i painted is not one of the missing.
What a beautiful scene with the mother and child. Love it! :)
your watercolour is coming along nicely and I think you are being a bit hard on yourself... it will get there in the end, they always do and watercolours always go through stage where they look terrible, but then finish off well... hope you have great painting week...xx
Two beautiful, I especially like the watercolor of the beach, hope to see completed. Greetings.
What a beautiful beach scene, so cute the little child.
I look forward to the finish of your 2. painting.
I wish you a nice weekend.

Netty, I think you should be really pleased with your beach watercolor. Yes, it can be a tough medium, but you seem to be handling it quite well. I really like the cubist piece too, can't wait to see where that one goes.
Great WIPs! You're doing wonderfully with your watercolor. I love the scene. And I'm most intrigued to see how the acrylic piece is finished. Happy PPF!

wow, I love your Phillip Fox inspired water colour! fantastic. I had the privilege of seeing both copies (in real life) last year when the show was in Brisbane. The Queensland Art Gallery has one of the copies in their collection and it's on display at the moment, so precious. You have captured it brilliantly.
Happy PPF xx
These are both WONDERFUL! You are so talented!
The beach painting has a very sweet and nostalgic feeling, I just love it! and the acrylic.. WOW, that is a really interesting composition you have there. I can not wait to see the end result. Excellent job Netty!!
don't throw your paintings away, nettie! if you are unhappy with it, write down what you don't like about it...also, write down what you DO like!..force your self to do a critique and put it away...something will spark you to come back to it...or to do it over...i can not tell you how important it is to play with watercolors first, you gain invaluable insight to the medium...i play all the time with it and still discover new things, like some colors need to be mixed more with the water because they will stay granulated and some are much lighter on the paper and need more pigment in the mix, it also matters what kind of WC you are using! artist grade WCs are expensive for a reason, student colors are cheaper for a reason...crayons & pencils are different than pans and tubes are different than pans...don't be too hard on yourself, dearest, i think it's beautiful...
beautiful painting Nettie, can't wait to see the results of the acyrilic one, I hope you are well.
oh wow Annette!!!! these are amazing......the first beach scene is one of my favorites of yours!!!! wonderful work!!!!
I think your beach scene is looking great. I could squeeze those cute little baby butt cheeks! But now I love what you've got going on with the other one. I can't wait to see where this one goes. Great job Netty!
Happy PPF! ~Jaime
Keep up the hard work-I agree Watercolor is very humbling. Happy PPF! Thank you for visiting and leaving a kind comment.
Very fine, Netty, I admire how you are sticking with the painting--I started, and have set it aside again.
***sigh***
What are you talking about? Your paintings are wonderful! I see such great potential renderings in each piece:) Makes me want to finish them. To me the hardest part is starting!
These are wonderful Annette, nothing beginnerish about them. The watercolour is beautiful, and I can't wait to see how your second one progresses x
The one of the beach is so adorable! The second one is very geometrical, so different!
I love your sea shore watercolor! Do NOT throw it away. It is so precious! I will look forward to seeing how you finish off the acrylic. Playing with painting is so much fun!
Blessings,
Tricia
Superb painting, Annette!
The watercolor beach painting is excellent. Watercolors drive me up the wall. Acrylics are much easier to handle and pastels even more so. Blessings, Janet PPF
