Paint Party Friday - Works in Progress !

Hi, its Paint Party Friday again..........it comes around so quickly.  Hosted by those great gals Kristin and Eva and supported by loads of fabulous artists, from beginners to professionals.  As you know I am in the beginner status and am having the greatest adventures playing around with the brushes and  paints.  Both of these paintings are Works in Progress.

' On the Beach ' is painted in watercolours.............mmmmm no room for mistakes with this medium, so to be honest I find it very tough going.  But am determined to finish it even if it ends up in the rubbish bin with the others.......

Now what the heck is this I hear you say...............have no idea.............just wanted to play with the acrylics.....and this is how its turning out.  Still loads and loads to do on it and heaven only knows how it will end up.............lol

Thank you for popping in; supporting and giving me such great encouragement to keep going, its very much appreciated.  Wishing you a smashing weekend.  Take care and will be seeing you all later as have to schedule this post as off to the nurse in the morning to get my hands dressed.........yep am wearing the latest fashion in white cotton fingerless gloves...........a very cool look............lol  Hugs Annette x

Hey Nettie these are amazing, I think you are rapidly heading out of "beginners status" lol. Particularly love the water colour one! Such depth to it and the softness is just beautiful. I know how unforgiving water colour painting can be, but hey on good quality paper and with a damp clean brush, you can take bits away lol. Not that there is any need on your painting though, just saying:o)

I love your beach scene. I really don't believe there are mistakes with watercolor. Sometimes the "mistakes" end up being the most interesting part.

Lovely WIP, Netty. Love the watercolor and yes, it is sometimes pretty unforgiving. I am interested in knowing what brand acrylics and what consistency you use. No, the lady i painted is not one of the missing.

What a beautiful scene with the mother and child. Love it! :)

your watercolour is coming along nicely and I think you are being a bit hard on yourself... it will get there in the end, they always do and watercolours always go through stage where they look terrible, but then finish off well... hope you have great painting week...xx

wow, I love your Phillip Fox inspired water colour! fantastic. I had the privilege of seeing both copies (in real life) last year when the show was in Brisbane. The Queensland Art Gallery has one of the copies in their collection and it's on display at the moment, so precious. You have captured it brilliantly.

The beach painting has a very sweet and nostalgic feeling, I just love it! and the acrylic.. WOW, that is a really interesting composition you have there. I can not wait to see the end result. Excellent job Netty!!

don't throw your paintings away, nettie! if you are unhappy with it, write down what you don't like about it...also, write down what you DO like!..force your self to do a critique and put it away...something will spark you to come back to it...or to do it over...i can not tell you how important it is to play with watercolors first, you gain invaluable insight to the medium...i play all the time with it and still discover new things, like some colors need to be mixed more with the water because they will stay granulated and some are much lighter on the paper and need more pigment in the mix, it also matters what kind of WC you are using! artist grade WCs are expensive for a reason, student colors are cheaper for a reason...crayons & pencils are different than pans and tubes are different than pans...don't be too hard on yourself, dearest, i think it's beautiful...
