Work in Progress for Paint Party Friday

Hi, am still having fun painting the Flora Bowley way, this time I included finger painting, wow that was scary but exciting as well.  This is as far as I've got with this canvas sheet as am still thinking, yep am a great thinker.  Old habits die hard..............lol

Painted in acrylics , then applied a dotted stencil as my finger tips are too thick to do it any other way.  The birds still need work on them.  Wonder what they are gossiping about...........

This background of this piece was originally upside down, but didn't like it that way so turned it around and added the birds.

On Facebook Ange Lee took a wonderful photograph which included a girl garden statue, I asked her permission to sketch it and she very kindly let me.  Its in its barest bones at the moment as was wondering whether to add her to the painting. What do you think?

Am off to Paint Party Friday now to see all the wonderful paintings, which fill me with envy at the artists  awesome  talents.  Then I shall be looking at all your wonderful designs.  Wishing you a wonderful weekend.  Take care of yourself, hugs Annette x

Love the beautiful muted colours. As for the girl, I'm not sure. Depends what else you are thinking of adding. It is a very pretty sketch though.

Beautiful work! I love it the way it is, but I'm sure I'd love it with the girl too, so I'm no help at all...

Netty, the background is awe-inspiring and dreamy. Cannot wait to see where you take that lovely girl as I suspect she will become an integral part of this piece. Thanks for sharing a work in progress. Feel like I'm part of the journey when you do this, which is such a privilege. Hugs, Buttons x

Can't believe that's a finger painting!! It's amazing! The girl statue is a great addition too. Maybe the birds are gossiping about her! :)

the canvas is incredible... your gut will tell you whether to leave the girl in or not - she is lovely and fits too but guess you'll see what direction your fingers take you!

SO many things I like about this painting- I'm glad that you flipped it, the background really has a wallpaper feel to it, and the finger dots are the perfect touch! The birds look great with the girl- she's a keeper! All I'd do is give the birds a little more definition so they are as strong as the girl- hope that makes sense!

Fabby Netty! I think the girl has a pensive air and am sure she will evolve and find her thinking place on your background which is just beautiful. x

Hi Netty, I love the soft background and the little girl. Nice job. The birds are probably saying to one another..."No, I saw that worm first, it's mine."
tee hee. Have a great weekend.

I too love the colors. In my humble opinion the girl should be flipped so she's looking from left to right, since that's how we read. Maybe you could give her a rock to sit on? It's going to be lovely when you are finished! Happy PPF. xo ~ Rhonda

I like the muted pastels and your swirly dot designs.
I also love your header. I'm thinking about doing a rendition of John Waterhouse's Lady of Shalott, one of my favorite paintings.

Funny, I thought the bird was on a tree upside down!! I love the sketch of the girl. Stunning!!

Oh yes, it's addictive isn't it, painting the Flora Bowley way!? And using your fingers ... aah ... heaven...
It looks wonderful with or without the girl, so I guess I'm not much help here. Just let it sit somewhere where you'll see it all the time. At a certain moment you''ll "know" whether to add the girl or not ...

This painting is beautiful, love the stylized patterns and birds.

I think instead of the wistful girl it needs something more grown and elegant, like an Erte or Georges Barbier inspired woman.

I love the beautiful colors, this piece reminds me of my very favorite fabric. .. Batiks. Love the birds, not sure about the girl. She's more like concrete than soft and floaty. Just my opinion, after all it is a WIP. Blessings, Janet, PPF
