Phew Just Made it !

Hi, am late coming to Paint Party Friday because I forgot to schedule it......no excuse as knew I had an Art Class this morning, am beginning to think this cold is addling my brain...............

Last week we learn't about mixing colours for skin tones, so decided to practice on my original drawings, which I showed you last Friday.

Today we learn't all about the eyes, so have a lot of practising to do on both the skin tones and the eyes.  We had to draw the persons eyes opposite us.........then move tables to draw someone elses eyes....found this very interesting.  It made me realise when I look at someones eyes to talk to them or listen I only see their pupils, never really look at the shape of their eyes..............told you I was beginner..............lol

Next week we are studying Modigliani, cannot say he is a personal favourite but his work is interesting and hopefully will be able to show you how I got on (thats if you are interested).

Am still hoping to get to the Big Stamp and Scrapbooking Show at Kettering, if you are there you will recognise me as will have loads of tissues and barking like a dog................Will be there Saturday and also am going Sunday so can meet up with a dear blogging friend Daniele.

Take care of yourselves and thank you for popping in.  Enjoy the weekend, Hugs Annette xx

Lovely paintings Netty. Portraits aren't my favourite subject to paint as they are so hard to achieve a likeness. You've done well with yours. Hope your cold gets better soon. Enjoy your Scrapbooking events too.

Lovely work, Netty. My Aunt was a portrait painter. She always said that the most expressive part of the face is the eyes and the shape of the lid line above the eye. That is what makes a portrait likeness be correct. You have to get the shape of eyes right. You are doing beautifully. Can't wait to see the Modigliani inspiration. Happy PPF

I agree about your skin tones. They really do look great. Love your portraits Nettie. I like the idea of sitting across from a classmate at looking into their eyes and drawing them. Very interesting. Keep enjoying your class. Take care and thank you.

I won't be at Kettering and I hope you will be beyond all those tissues and such, Netty. Your progress in painting is wonderful. You keep saying you are a beginner, but your work doesn't look like it. These two portraits are wonderful. What a great class you are taking!

Fab, Netty and you're right - I only ever look at pupils, too, though I do comment on the shape of people's eyes, so I must look. Wish I was coming to your art class... x

Faces are difficult, aren't they? I practise them a lot myself, but I'm still not very good. Every time I try to draw/paint a face it scares me. Skintones is very difficult, some of my faces are so grey... ugh! They probably have some kind of desease...

craftimamma said...

Wow, you did brilliantly with those skin tones. I can't draw faces to save my life let alone paint them, lol! Look forward to seeing more.
