Hi, am late coming to Paint Party Friday because I forgot to schedule it......no excuse as knew I had an Art Class this morning, am beginning to think this cold is addling my brain...............
Last week we learn't about mixing colours for skin tones, so decided to practice on my original drawings, which I showed you last Friday.
Today we learn't all about the eyes, so have a lot of practising to do on both the skin tones and the eyes. We had to draw the persons eyes opposite us.........then move tables to draw someone elses eyes....found this very interesting. It made me realise when I look at someones eyes to talk to them or listen I only see their pupils, never really look at the shape of their eyes..............told you I was beginner..............lol
Next week we are studying Modigliani, cannot say he is a personal favourite but his work is interesting and hopefully will be able to show you how I got on (thats if you are interested).
Am still hoping to get to the Big Stamp and Scrapbooking Show at Kettering, if you are there you will recognise me as will have loads of tissues and barking like a dog................Will be there Saturday and also am going Sunday so can meet up with a dear blogging friend Daniele.
Take care of yourselves and thank you for popping in. Enjoy the weekend, Hugs Annette xx

Wow! Great job ~ wonderful portraits and do enjoy your class ~ (A Creative Harbor) ^_^
Love your art work Annette.xxx
Nettie, you are so talented! Can't wait to see more of your lovely art. Have fun at the show this weekend! Thanks for sharing :)
Lovely paintings Netty. Portraits aren't my favourite subject to paint as they are so hard to achieve a likeness. You've done well with yours. Hope your cold gets better soon. Enjoy your Scrapbooking events too.
Lovely work, Netty. My Aunt was a portrait painter. She always said that the most expressive part of the face is the eyes and the shape of the lid line above the eye. That is what makes a portrait likeness be correct. You have to get the shape of eyes right. You are doing beautifully. Can't wait to see the Modigliani inspiration. Happy PPF
Two lovely drawings Nettie. HOpe you have a nice time at the show.
Love your skin tone paintings and I am sure you will put the others all to shame with your eyes. I have always commented on how beautifully you do eyes, I can not imagine you getting any better than you already are since you are the best!
Wonderful paintings, Netty you are so talented!
You've made a lot of progress on your paintings! They are both really good so far! Have fun at the show!

Yes, I love these portraits, wonderful.
I agree about your skin tones. They really do look great. Love your portraits Nettie. I like the idea of sitting across from a classmate at looking into their eyes and drawing them. Very interesting. Keep enjoying your class. Take care and thank you.
Fabulous portraits. I tried doing them in oils at college but without too much success.
Happy Friday.

I won't be at Kettering and I hope you will be beyond all those tissues and such, Netty. Your progress in painting is wonderful. You keep saying you are a beginner, but your work doesn't look like it. These two portraits are wonderful. What a great class you are taking!
You are coming along beautifully! Your skin tones look wonderful. Sounds like so much fun and your teacher is great! Have a fabulous time at the stamping show and feel better soon!♥ ~Rhonda
You are so talented, Netty, wish I had a fraction of your talent. Hoping you get to the show. At least as you are near you could go for a while - and take your mind off your poorlyness,

Fab, Netty and you're right - I only ever look at pupils, too, though I do comment on the shape of people's eyes, so I must look. Wish I was coming to your art class... x

Hi Netty,
I love your portraits. It sounds like a very informative and fun class. Not the usual 'paint the pumpkin on the table' art class! Enjoy!
Great job with the faces!
Isn't it interesting what you notice because of art that you never did before?

mixing skin tones was a week of torture at art school back in the day... to this day i think I avoid painting portraits just to avoid it... looks like you are on top of it though... looking forward to what you learn through studying modigliani...xx

How exciting to see you experiment with portraits and skin tones!!! :0) I think you are doing a wonderful job. Eyes are my most favourite thing to paint I never get tired of painting them. Enjoy your class!
wonderful work, Netty! Your skin tones look great. You've made a lot of progress in just a few months. Bravo! xox
oh wow Annette !!!!! these paintings are amazing work....you are doing great!!! so inspiring!!!
Faces are difficult, aren't they? I practise them a lot myself, but I'm still not very good. Every time I try to draw/paint a face it scares me. Skintones is very difficult, some of my faces are so grey... ugh! They probably have some kind of desease...
Wow, you did brilliantly with those skin tones. I can't draw faces to save my life let alone paint them, lol! Look forward to seeing more.
Hugs

You do nothing but get better and better - how exciting this is. Are you sick sweet lady? Barking like a dog sure does not sound like a lot of fun. I only wish I could be at this show so I could meet you face to face - barks and all!!!!! Keep up all these postings kid - I need your inspiration!!
