Decapitated Barbie becomes The Spring Sprite!!

Hi, as promised am showing my altered Barbie.........first job was to chop her hair off, then tug the head off.......ooh am so destructive............lol

Lots of different materials were used, including an old wooden rubber stamp base, air dry clay, acrylics etc.

Am entering this silly piece into Altered Eclectics

Think, next time I do this will keep the torso etc and try something a little different, unfortunately I binned her parts in my clean up.....big mistake.

Its always fun to experiment isn't it.......... Thank you for popping in and Spring Sprite (affectionately known as SS)  thanks you as well.
The trouble is when she starts talking she never knows when to shut up, knew I should have sealed up her lips.......  Enjoy your day, Annette x

The Cottingley Fairies and a Surprise Gift

Hi, have not been creating for this blog in quite a while, but those of you who regularly follow me will know why and thank you so much for all your support on my Art Blog.

The Craft Room challenge at the moment is 20th Century.  Inspiration for my altered box comes from the famous Cottingley Fairies.

The beautiful fairies are a freebie from Astrid, will not bore you with too much detail, just to say, acrylics, glass bead texture gel, alcohol inks and stencils were used in the making of this box.

Its wonderful in the UK at the moment seeing all the blossom on the trees, daffodils and crocuses, it makes your heart sing after the awful winter we have had.  Even some of the rose trees are in bud.......

Am also entering this into the That's Crafty Challenge and Altered Eclectics  - Anything Goes

Now for my surprise gift  from the Queen of Altered Art,  Deborah Powell

Am calling him Prometheus
Thank you Deborah for the most wonderful altered art doll ever

Thank you for taking the time to pop in and hope all is well with you.  Hugs Annette xx

Gossipy George

Hi, after seeing on Facebook that the Unruly Paper Art Group are having a challenge this month and asking for Facebookers to show us an ATC used in Altered Art, thought I would have a go......

Let me introduce you to George the very gossipy cat and his poor Mistress, Hilda.  He is always telling her the latest gossip about the Soaps on TV and any other titbit of news.  George told her what was going to happen in Coronation Street this week and Hilda was not best pleased as she doesn't like to hear the storylines in advance, just look at the expression on her face............lol

The ATC is mounted on a used shaped Canvas Sheet which had been Gessoed, painted in Acrylic and edged with Pewter Liquid Leaf.
The ATC was stamped with the Rogue Redhead - Just Sayin' plate and coloured with watercolours.
Didn't think it was altered enough so then this happened.........

Yep now its been digitally altered into a box...............

The weather here is so very cold at the moment brrr.   Thank you for visiting me and will see you soon. Got to brave the weather today and go  food shopping, will be glad to get back home.  Take care of yourselves, hugs Annette xx

Happy New Year

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE................XX

This was originally a Mr Men painted Mirror from the 99p shop and of course it had to be altered.  Using Gesso, Acrylic Paints, and Stencils.  The Lace and Flowers were sponged with Distress Inks.

I hate to admit it but this mirror has been stuck in a plastic carrier bag for 12 months only half done.  New Years resolution to myself.............finish all my half done projects...........and there are quite a few......sigh sigh.

This month the theme is recycling at Happy Daze, so thought I would enter this project.

Have a great week and thank you for all your support and for popping in, Hugs Annette x

' Home Sweet Home '

Hi, this scheduled post is my second project this month for Happy Daze, I chose to alter a Black Ikea Photo Frame, you know the ones I mean..........the cheapy plasticky ones.

Products used Suzi Blu -  La Belle stamp, Gesso, Acrylic Paints, Serviette, Webster Pages, Watercolour Paints, multi matt medium  and the rest from stash.

Am so in love with this Suzi Blu -  La Belle stamp as she is so versatile.  If you remember on 3rd June when I used her last I cut off her hat and gave her a bandana.  This time have paper pieced her hat, I have many looks in mind for this fab stamp she is now available at the Happy Daze online shop.

Wishing you a happy and crafty week, Hugs Annette xx

PS Thank you for all your brilliant support, am hoping to be back by the end of the week if all goes well. xx

Altered Shopping List Hanging...........

Hi, hope you have had a great weekend.  Here in Northamptonshire it was very misty over the weekend and then the sun shone through in the afternoon, which was bliss.  Got myself a new toaster, one that doesn't throw the toast up into the air.......it was hard work with the old one, a bit like playing netball.........lol
On Saturday morning I popped into town to get some fruit and veg from the market and then wandered into QD and found that they had some shopping list hangings reduced to 10p........wow 10p, so went mad and bought two.............lol

(........please excuse the creased front sheet as will whip that off before I give it away)

Products used:  Gesso, dark green acrylic paint, Viva Croco Crackling, Tim Holtz Diecuts, Scraps of cardstock, garden twine and a large Brad.

This is how it was in its original state.  So if you live in the UK go and grab yourself a great bargain.
Thank you for popping in and take care of yourselves, Hugs Annette x

' One for the Boys ' - A Small Demo

Hi, as some of you may know I run an Altered Art Group for the over 60's and some of the ladies have physical problems due to old age.  The eldest member is 90 and she has a wicked sense of humour.  We all agreed that presents for men are not the easiest to make and the ladies wanted to make something small, so this is what I came up with.........
I had bought quite a few of these Mirror Picture Holder Magnets from The Range when they had a sale.
The magnet is on the back and the picture of your choice just slips behind it.
This is what I used to alter it.................plus a picture from a Crafty Individuals Pad and a Rubber Stamp which I coated with Black Paint Dabber.
Then just added a Silver Crown which was dabbed with the Gold Alcohol Ink and Black Stones.  So its easy peasy and fun to alter and takes no time at all.

The Mirror is made of Acrylic so it won't shatter if its dropped and the pink you can see is the reflection of my fingers when I took the photograph as the mirror still shines through the inks.
Am happy to say the ladies thoroughly enjoyed altering these mirror frames.

I had hoped to get this posted yesterday but blogger just wouldn't load the pictures.  Thank you for calling in and hope you like this simple and cheap way to alter something.   Take care and will see you soon. Hugs Annette xx
